Documents released Monday in the case of a 12-year-old Colorado boy accused of fatally shooting his parents and wounding two siblings show prosecutors filed nine charges against him, including two counts of first-degree murder.

  The documents released by a judge at the request of prosecutors also offer new details from investigators alleging the boy tried to hurt his 5-year-old sister with a knife and stabbed and shot his 9-year-old brother. Bishop Chandler David Owens passed away on Sunday at 79 years of age in Atlanta, Ga. An internationally known leader, Owens for more than 35 years faithfully served as a member of the general board and from 1995-2000 as presiding bishop of the church.

Presiding Bishop Blake, says “The former presiding bishop, Chandler David Owens’ contribution to the Church of God in Christ will forever be remembered in the annals of church history with gratitude, fondness, and respect. Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate his life. (RNS) Sometimes being a pastor is a real pain.

But few pastors want to admit it.

J.R. Briggs in trying to change that.

That’s why Briggs, a blogger and pastor of the Renew Community in Lansdale, Pa., is organizing the Epic Fail Pastors Conference.

Scheduled for April 15-16 at a church-turned-bar 25 minutes outside of Philadelphia, Briggs hopes to makes space for pastors to speak their minds without fear.

The conference grew out of a blog post Briggs wrote last summer.

Most ministers’ conferences are flashy events with rock bands and presentations from big church pastors, who take the stage and talk about their great successes.

But those presentations didn’t match the daily realities for pastors, especially at small churches, Briggs said. Read more…
